A jekt is a single-masted open cargo ship with one or two square sails. Instead of deck in the middle, it had loose boards that protected the load.
The Holvik jekt was built in 1881 in Sandane. She measures 20 meters long and 8 meters wide. She mostly carried wood and timber on the outward journey to the main town Bergen, and goods not available locally on the return.
She now stands 2 km. outside Sandane centre, at the same place where she was towed on land after her last trip to Bergen in 1906.
